MIDI Composing is a way of putting sound together to create an original music. I am talking about composers who want to do it alone by making a complete music with the use of PC and other relevant attachments to it. The good thing is that one can do it alone.
I have control on making arrangements out of it but the only thing uncontrollable is what you will hear. It will always be a mechanical sound unless you add analog instrument to go with it and mix it as audio. But COMPOSING is all about BANKING MUSIC for future use. So I spend time doing songs for my own personal goal.
If you will ask me how did I start with MIDI and what strategies and approach did I undergo, It's never been an easy task, but it's not rare. Everyone seems to have done it in one way or another.

"MIDI is Musical Instruments Digital Interface. It is a serial interface standard that allows for the connection of music synthesizers, musical instruments, and computers. The MIDI standard is based partly on hardware and partly on a description of the way in which music and sound are encoded and communicated within MIDI devices. The information transmitted between MIDI devices is in a form called MIDI message, which encodes aspect of sound as pitch and volume as 8-bit bytes of digital information."

MIDI devices can be used for creating, recording or playing back music.
